Corn on the cob

First time.  Big hit.  She didn't eat the whole thing--there was about a quarter of the kernels left on Mommy's cob when we gave it to her.

Sierras Hiking #3--Father's Day!

Daddy's first Father's Day as a daddy and Grandpa Lee's first Father's Day as a Grandpa spent on day 2 of our first family weekend backpacking trip (Grandpa Lee, Daddy, Mommy and Ava) in the Black Buttes/Grouse Ridge area of Tahoe National Forest.  Very successful trip on all counts.  Ava consumed rocks, dirt, wild foliage and flowers and seemed to love looking around on the hike.  Mommy was pleased that her backpacking diapering scheme was successful:  we rinsed out fleece pocket diapers in the numerous lakes and streams we passed and to dried them on clotheslines in camp and on the outside of the pack.   We couldn't have asked for a better campsite:  flat granite gravel, with boulders for storing gear, right next to a lake, with easy trees to hang food on.  Also, Daddy stored a little extra surprise cargo in Grandpa Lee's backpack on the way up.  Training for their hike on the Chilkoot Trail in Alaska in July!  Also, Ava figured out how to use the hydration pack tube.  Like a bottle, the hydration pack is both a device for transferring water into your mouth and a toy.
