Technically her first solid food because she ingested some, potato was not a hit, really, nor has anything else that we've tentatively tried, except applesauce, but we're wary of that because it's sweet

She loves sitting in her chair at dinner and playing with either toys or food. So far she has not transferred any food to her mouth with her fingers.

Christmas! Big thanks to everyone who helped make it such a success for us this year.

We went on a walk after opening presents at a local patch of woods and let Sprig practice retrieving. Ava seems to like dog training.

We got a dog. He's a black Lab from a long line of distinguished bird retrievers, currently 14 weeks old. Daddy intends to train and hunt with him. His AKC name is Riverdale's Sprig of Thyme. We call him Sprig, which is another name for the pintail ducks that Daddy studies and hunts, and, of course, a sprig is a bit of a plant, which appeals to Mommy.

I wouldn't call this her first food, because there wasn't anything but salty juice on it, but Rosemary really loved teething on this goose bone after dinner. She's cut two teeth, in the middle on the bottom, each about a millimeter above the gum.

We had a lovely Thanksgiving at Grace and Kris's house.

Ava has been requesting lots of photos recently, including these, especially if the photo involves Rosemary (i.e., "Mommy, don't you want to take a picture of the baby and me?")

Recent Ava quote: "Daddy, sit here [patting sofa]. We're going to have a conversation. Here's the plan: I'm not going to wear pants." She's recently also taken to wearing her princess/queen "cloaks" (blankets + pipe cleaner tie or safety pin) on her head.
