Ava art from a few weeks ago, a product of a spate of marker art on a neighbor's deck.

Chickens.

Spent a few hours hanging out at Windy Point with friends

Turning kinnikinnick into a slide

Finding a spot out of the wind

Sketching flowers

Pants needed some drying out

Sticks.

More sticks

Doing a course set by the orienteering club

Snowed on me up at Near Point

Ava did a "controlled burn" (under the watchful eye of a neighbor who does that professionally); the grass was wet, so only the very tops were singed.

Corn from goodness knows where. We explained how each kernel is a fruit, and the cornsilk is a flower part. Minds blown.

Checked out the stream by the school.

Picked a daffodil outside while still dressed up from our videotaping of the kids' spring piano recital pieces. Their teacher compiled the students' videos into a set of YouTube montages. Here is a link to the group with Ava and Rosemary's performances: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPceVPDzN-I

An old illustration of Ava's that I found in a drawing pad

We went on a wonderful 10-mile bike ride on the Trail of Blue Ice with another family. An avalanche had blocked about 100m of the trail. The kids scrambled around the avalanche chute before pushing their bikes across.

On the other side

Sandbar break

Snack at the Portage Glacier visitor's center after the ride

The new chicks are now outside chickens, ensconced in the raspberry patch until they are big enough to withstand integrating in with the adult hens.
