We went on an overnight trip to a public-use yurt on the Eagle River Nature Center trail. This was our first foray into family camping with snow on the ground. Big success!

Daddy waxing skis in the parking lot, getting ready.

The kids love this hollowed-out cottonwood. This is the first time they've been in it in the snow.

On the way to the yurt, skis off for crossing the bridge.

The yurt was very close to the frozen Eagle River. We saw a few fat-tire bikers.

Rosemary and Sprig on the frozen river.

There was a wood stove in the yurt.

Rosemary decided to lay down on a patch of ice and lick it

Then she found frozen moose poop on the river, so of course the mittens and hood had to come off, before Mommy and Daddy could extract her from the poop pile and get her warm stuff back on.

Playing at a neighbor's house. Mittens and coat off again. Sigh.

Ava is mad at me for taking her picture here.
