Ava cast and hooked and landed this big silver all by herself.

Strawberry

Ava had her heart set on a sleepover birthday party before the pandemic. She enbraced the idea that a backpacking birthday party is like a socially distanced sleepover. We hiked to a local spot with two other families.

Picking blueberries. Each child had to pick enough blueberries to adorn his or her serving of blueberry shortcake. We hiked in poundcake and a can of whipped cream.

Our friends' dog finally convinced Sprig to play, something Sprig doesn't do often.

Orienteering with buddies.

Ava had a second birthday party, a backyard barbecue, with our neighbors who couldn't go on the backpacking trip. After cupcakes the kids and Daddy helped a neighbor pluck the ducks he had shot that morning.
