We had visitors up from Seattle--Becca and Alice! The girls and I accompanied them to visit Becca's great aunt and uncle in Homer (we love them too). We camped overnight at Anchor Point on our way down for some beach time. The girls and I spent two days in Homer before driving back and leaving Becca and Alice in Homer for a longer visit. They returned to Anchorage to stay with us for a few days, and we went backpacking over Portage Pass from Whittier and camped at Portage Lake, at the base of Portage Glacier. It was very buggy but otherwise an idyllic place for the girls to play on the lakeshore.

Rosemary's birthday party--a low key barbecue at our house on a beautiful evening, last day in June, a few days before her 8th birthday

July

I gave Rosemary a wood burning tool for her birthday, something she learned how to use at her Waldorf school. She sanded some birch rounds that her dad cut for her and shared her tool with neighbor friends.

Such a reader

On July 5, Rosemary's birthday, she requested chocolate pancakes for breakfast, which her dad made. Grandpa Lee was up from CA for a week before taking the girls back to CA for the rest of July.

Ava and I hiked in Girdwood with friends, along Winner Creek

We went dipnetting on the Kasilof. Ava caught her first 3 red salmon in a dipnet.

Rosemary loves woodworking

I went dipnetting with neighbors over the 12-13 but only caught 2 salmon.
